Help Us Change The Law - Make Carbon Monoxide Alarms A Legal Requirement

CO poisoning has long been an issue and tragically around 40 people a year lose their lives to the silent killer with another 4000 hospitalised with symptoms. When you look at the price of a Carbon Monoxide alarm there is no excuse; these deaths are all preventable.

At Plumb & Parts Center we are proud to be working with a team of the biggest manufacturers and governing bodies in the industry, a leading charity and members of parliament to change the law regarding carbon monoxide alarms in homes in England and Wales. It’s simple: If a house has a carbon burning appliance we want a CO alarm to be mandatory!

The Katie Haines Memorial Trust

The Katie Haines Memorial Trust was set up by Gordon Samuel when his daughter was tragically killed by carbon monoxide poisoning. The trust has been working hard for a number of years to raise awareness of the dangers of carbon monoxide and it is with great pleasure we are able campaign together to help change the law. The video below was created by the Trust to increase awareness of the dangers and the ease with which alarms can be installed.

Take action today and support us in changing the law in England and Wales

It is already a legal requirement to have CO alarms in homes in Scotland and Northern Ireland when a new or replacement boiler, heater, stove or fire is installed and now it’s time for a change in the law in England and Wales. We need 100,000 signatures on the e-petition to have this debated in parliament with a view to changing the law.
